Salalah is the second-largest city in Sultanate of Oman, and the largest city in Dhofar Province., Salalah is the birthplace of the late Sultan, Qaboos bin Said. Salalah attracts many people from other parts of Oman and Arabia Gulf region during the monsoon/ kharif season, which spans from July to September. The Climate of the region and the monsoon allows the city to grow some vegetables and fruits like coconut and bananas, There are many gardens within the city where these vegetables and fruits grow.

Your vacation should be a time to forget your complex busy life and rejuvenate yourself, and there’s no better place than Salalah to do this, with pristine beaches, magnificent deserts, rugged mountains and a 7,000 years history.

The Sultan Qaboos Mosque

The location is in the heart of town Another wonderful building in salalah, a crystal chandelier hangs from an intricately carved 36-meter (118-foot) dome, and a 20-ton hand woven carpet with 115 million individual knots covers the floor. Outside, the landscaped grounds provide a peaceful spot for rest. its opened for visitors from Saturdays to Thursdays from 8:00 a.m. to 11:00.

Al Baleed Museum Palace

Opportunity to learn about oman historic and maritime heritage. The Maritime Hall also highlights the major maritime events in the Omani history, Oman’s relationship with the sea, the contribution of the sea to the development of trade relations with other countries and the Omani skills in the shipbuilding industry. Since its opening on July 23rd 2007, the museum has been an important educational and cultural platform for the Sultanate.

TAQA Castle

In the center of the town, you will visit the most popular castle in Dhofar, it was built in the 19th century it used to be a private residence for a tribal leader, Sheikh Ali bin Taman Al Ma’shani , the grandfather of the mother of Sultan Qaboos The castle was more recently renovated during the times of Sultan Qaboos and reopened as a museum in 1994. The castle is a great explication on how people lived in the area since the 19th century, there you can hear about Omani history of forts and castles near the sea.

The old town of TAQA

The old fishing village of TAQA is around 35 km east of Salalah by a long beach, with a paved corniche, famous for dried Sardines & its traditional and old Dhofari houses. And you can see a lot of Oman’s old houses elegant in their looks , It contains deserts, mountains, valleys, caves, and water springs and it’s a perfect place for fishing.

Khor Rori

Is an Early archaeological site near Salalah , The small fortified town was founded as an outpost for the kingdom of Hadramawt around the 1st century. (The old city of SAMHURAM) Samhuram was first discovered in the region in the late 19th century by James Theodore Bent. Some Mormon scholars believe that this is the «land Bountiful.

It is believed that the lake beds were originally shallow lakes formed by monsoon rains thousands of years ago, and only lasted for a few years. Ain Sahalnoot

Ain sahalnoot is one of the most beautiful springs in salalah And one of the most beautiful places in Dhofar where trees are surrounded by green hills and mountains covered with green grass with a clear blue water. The ain stretches across a beautiful wheel for a 4 kilometers used for irrigating plants by the people of the region

Tawi Attair

60 kms off to the East of Salalah there is Tawi-Attair. one of the deepest natural sinkholes in the world, the size of the hole is about 975 thousand cubic meters and has a diameter of 130 to 150 meters and its depth reaches 211 meters .tawi-Attair is formed naturally through the process of erosion or collapse of the surface of the caves or by reducing the level of groundwater, The hole Has gained global fame since its discovery in 1997 tawi attair is home to many bird species You can see it or hear it inside and outside the hole

Wadi Darbat

Within a beautiful environment you will observe hundreds of camels, cows and goats roaming freely all along the valley’s water and mountains And You will clearly hear every leaf moving There is a Lot of nearby rocks and natural caves for hiking around. The water in darbat is crystal blue you can watch fishes through it. Perfect place for picnics, The lush greenery will attract you so much that you will find it hard to leave the place and go back.. It’s regarded as one of the wonders of the nature in the Middle-East.

Ain Razat

A nice picnic spot with a running freshwater spring at the base of a mountain and small caves . about 30 km from the city center. Prepare your camera and enjoy, seeing the natural water coming from the mountains. With a lot of fishes along the riverbed, and the water sound coming out of the mountain. You can even sit under trees enjoying the fresh air.

Jebel Samhan

Jebel Samhan or "Mount Samhan" is one of the main mountain in Dhofar, Maximum height of samhan around 2,100 m (7,000 feet) above sea level Samhan Mountain includes many plateaus punctuated by narrow and deep gorges, some of them are about 1,000 metres deep. Nabi Ayoub Tomb

The tomb of the Prophet Ayoub (job) is located in the hills overlooking the city of Salalah, and it’s the believed burial sites of the Prophet. In the tomb, there is a footprint on the ground believed to be the mark of his leg when God ordered the prophet Ayoub to press his foot down ,and there is a hole on the ground where the water gushed forth

Marneef Cave

Marneef cave is a hollow place in the ground, especially a natural underground space large enough for a human to enter ,and there are many benches enclosed the cave for siting and taking photos after that you can see the 3 blow holes a natural fountains, the sea pushes water through the holes and force the water up high (up to 30m) into the air, you can hear the roar of the water
